Our meeting started with a short act of worship, in which Ann led us in prayer to remember all the people of the Middle East.
The minutes and apologies were taken, and all the notices for the coming month were given. A particular event of note is the Mothers' Union (MU) Diocesan Council which will be held on the 21st of October at St John’s House, Bury.
Our branch festival will be held at the 10:30am service on the 29th of October and the speaker on that day will be Revd Ian Butterworth, past Chaplin of the Rochdale archdeaconry Mothers' Union.
The Annual MU gathering was held in York in September which coincided with the launch of a new campaign! This was RISE UP Against Domestic Abuse.
The 8th to 14th October is Prisons Week where the Mothers' Union join with the wider movement of Christians to pray for the needs of all those affected by prisons, including prisoners and their families, victims of crime and their communities, and all working in the justice system. Our branch remembered all MU members in the Manchester Diocese who offer help and support at family days in our local prisons.
Our meeting ended with a lively game we all enjoyed.
The next Mothers' Union branch meeting will be held on the 14th of November.
